Kent J. Berreth, CPA
The firm’s Managing Member, Kent Berreth, provides tax, audit and accounting advice to clients in all areas, with emphasis on the construction and finance industries. He has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant since 1984, working for two large regional Spokane firms before purchasing a practice in 1990.
Kent specializes in technical tax entity structure to help minimize clients’ federal and state income taxes. Kent serves as a consultant to numerous small- and medium-sized corporations and partnerships. He also audits several manufacturing and financial concerns. Finally, Kent provides services to bankruptcy clients by assisting them in filing U.S. Trustee monthly reports and other bankruptcy court-related matters.
Kent has been married to his wife, Kirsty, since 1988, and has three sons, Trevor, Kyle and Cameron. He enjoys fishing, hiking, and various outdoors activities.
Diane M. Smith, CPA
Diane has been a member of our team since 2003. She joined the firm after practicing public accounting in Monterey, California and Spokane during the nineteen years prior to that. In 2011 Diane became a partner with the firm.
Diane works extensively with small business clients, with a focus on tax planning and tax preparation for individuals and businesses, as well as small business consulting. Diane is a graduate of Central Washington University, with continued tax specialty classes from Golden Gate University. She is an active part of several non-profit organizations and enjoys giving back to the community around her.
Outside of work, Diane is a mom to three active daughters, one is recently married, and two in their teens. As a family, they love outdoor activities, and they love to travel.
Cheryl joined us in May 2012. Currently Cheryl works as one of our bookkeepers. Prior to that she also took on the role of office manager/receptionist. She brought with her 7 years of bookkeeping with a local construction company, and her many years of office management experience.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, as well as competing in triathlons and marathons.
Melissa joined our team in October 2015. In 1998 she joined a local CPA firm where she began her career in accounting. She initially was employed as an Administrative Assistant and worked her way to Accounting and Tax support.
For the last 10 years she has expanded her knowledge of Accounting and Tax while working in a small professional firm. Her 18 years’ experience includes full charge bookkeeping, expertise in QuickBooks, and individual and tax preparation and planning. She has assisted in business analysis for the sale of a business as well as financial statement analysis for various business industries. She has also worked with retail business to implement new processes for business development and management.
Outside of work she enjoys hosting gatherings and spending time with her friends and family around a bonfire. She has two children in elementary school and as a family they enjoy roller skating, hiking and traveling.
Caleb D. Clark
Caleb is a graduate of Whitworth University with a degree in Accounting and Economics. Before joining Berreth, Smith and Associates in fall of 2016, Caleb cultivated experience in a private accounting setting working in various industries from real estate, sales, and construction to private equity.
Caleb in primarily involved in bookkeeping, payroll filings, and tax work for the businesses served by the firm.
